For those who are new to the game, futsal is essentially a small sided game (5v5) that is played on a firm surface, with boundary lines and a small ball that has been weighted down.  It is a game where interactions (dribble, pass, shoot, off the ball movement) are many, and "players can learn to become skillfully attuned to situations the game may present them, as they search, discover and exploit information in response to what the game is asking of them".  For example:

• The weight of the ball may shape a player's behavior overtime by  educating their attention towards different dribbling, passing, and shooting opportunities through constraining others.
• The surface, size of the field, and number of players may educate a player's attention towards opportunities to pass or move without the ball.
• The size of the field and the boundary lines may guide players to develop different ball handling skills.

It is believed that the skills players can learn in futsal are very transferrable to soccer.  That is because the information players can perceive in a futsal game is very representative of the information a player can perceive in a soccer game.  The best players act on information they perceive.  Playing futsal provides players with many opportunities to perceive and act on different information which is representative of the information from a soccer game.
